Snow Snow and more SNOW! February 26, 2008

I used to like snow as a child.  Now it is an inconvenience.  It fumbles everything up.  Slow drivers, icy walkways and hard to find a parking space since the snow plows pile it up randomly.  I do enjoy watching it fall slowly to the ground and I love seeing light glisten off the flakes.  We have had snow for around a week now and we are supposed to get another 2-4 inches.  I can honestly say I am ready for winter to be over.  Did the ground hog see his shadow?  I hope he predicted a short winter.

We leave on Saturday my 36th bithday to drive down to Wilmington, NC.  I am pretty positive I will not see any snow down there.  I am going to try to stay awake on the drive down.  I have a needle felting project I want to do.  I can never manage to keep my eyes open while a passenger on a road trip.

 Quirky

I can’t say I will always post daily.  There are many times that life will get in the way.  But I can try to post once or twice a week.

Part of what has propelled starting a blog was the move and also at CHA I felt like I was the only one who did not.  Keeping my life private to me has always been important.  I do not mind sharing work and fun tid bits or recipes.  But my family is off limit. I am a very protective Momma bird.

I will slowly add links to my blog of those who have work I am fond of and other who I find inspirational.  I will also try to link to companies whose products or services I like.  I will try my best to not sound like I am promoting a single company as that is not my aim.  I have favorites and I am not afraid to admit it.

I gave a few mentions yesterday.  There is a photo of my September project for Pazzles.  I can honestly not say enough about the people and products they put out.  I have been working with Pazzles for almost 3 years now and they have never dissapointed me.  At CHA winter they made me very happy.  They came out with a new Machine called the Inspiration.  It will cut a 12 x12 sheet of paper plus a few other materials.  Check out the website www.Pazzles.com and you can see all of the wonderful features.  The new software is awesome and I cannot wait to get my hands one one.  I think I am going to upgrade from my Mini to the Inspiration.  They are available soon so I think once we are settled in I will make the upgrade.

We leave the first week in March to go to Wilmington.  I might do some house shopping then.  I know one thing will be important in our new house and that is a creative space for me.  I also want to have an area where my son can create along side.  He loves to paint in both water colours and fingerpaint.  I think creative expression is a very important part of childhood.

3-piece.jpgCHA was last week.  For me as a crafter it is a whirlwind of stimulation.  Not only visually but mentally.  It is the best place to see new products and to learn about others hands on.  Also it is wonderful being around people with the same creative interests.  Again this year I brought my camera and never took it out of the bag. I took two classes this time around.  One fantastic and the other not so much.  The not so good class did not fit the description and was very short.  The rest  of the time I spent walking the floor or in the Unity Stamp Company booth.  USC is a new stamp company that created the most unique monting system that is sure to please both the traditional rubber mounted stampers and also the acrylic fans.  The owners Angela and Christian have really tried to think of everything.  They released over 1,000 images.  Variety was not lacking.  There are styles to appeal to almost anyone.

I also participated in the Designer Showcase and I was really pleased with the results.  Over 50 Designers participated and the works displayed were amazing.

I will try to update my blog with details of the show and products that caught my attention as time allows.  Time is a valuable commodity right now as the week before CHA my husband was promoted and we are being transfered to Wilmington, NC.  It is going to be a difficult yet exciting move.  We will be 12 hours from our friends and family.  When we lived in Indianapolis it was only a 2 hour drive.

I will also be posting photos of past projects.  The first is a layout, candle wrap and card created for Pazzles in Sept. 2007
