Scrapbooking July 30, 2008
I have not had time since the move on June 1. Thought I would upload one from a while back. This is my little sister. We look nothing alike. I did get some fantastic shots when she was here. I made a few of them into a mini album. It was with new paper from Kaiser. Have I said before that I love Kaiser? Well it was picked up and I did not even get photos of it. Good thing I wrote the directions before hand.
Going green- Seek Peak part 2. July 29, 2008
Going green with your crafting does not have to be hard. The tag on this card was from a pair of pants. Flipped it over and used the other side. The small gift card holder (the little things) Is made from a toilet paper roll. I smooched it down then ran it both directions through the paper crimper to give it texture. The ink brings out the dimmension. The flower is made from coffee filters. Not used but you could they would smell good and have a nice rich color. Unity is green too. They cassets use so much less wood than traditional stamps. Plus red rubber retains its image longer.
Sneak Peek July 29, 2008
I will post pics of my sneak peek later this afternoon. Must entertain the nino this morning.
Busy as a bee July 28, 2008
I do not know about you, but I am wondering where my summer has gone. I cannot believe it is the end of July already. This move has kicked my butt as have all of my assignments. So glad the move is over and my life is almost back to normal. This card was a pretty new one. I was playing around with my Scor-pal, trying out new folds. OMG this thing makes it so easy to plan what you are doing. I had always used the score blade on my Tonic Trimmer and been very satisfied. Now I am even happier. Not sure what the fold is called. I think I read that it is a gate fold. What ever. I like the effect. The stamp set is Trinity from Unity. Speaking of Unity they are having a release party Wed. night. 6-8 pc central time. Check out all of the DT members blogs for sneak peeks on Tuesday and then come back for the party and full images on Wed. night. I have both of my projects half way done. One is a card and well the other is not. Stop back in. Hopefully you will like them. I know I love the set I have. Really cool images and good words too.
Casa de Meiners July 27, 2008
Wh
en you move to a coastal city you get visitors. So not a complaint!
When we lived in Indianapolis we were 2 hours from home and the visitors were not that frequent. Now that we are on the ocean we have had visitors 3/7 weeks we have been here. I was in Chicago for a week during that time too. My mother is coming next week, then Carla and the kids and Heidi is supposed to come before she goes back to teaching. This past week Scott, Emy and Ben were here. I think it was the first time we have ever done anything with just them. Other family members have always been present. Well let me say we laughed until bedtime! Maxx and Ben wore themselves out playing. Maxx enjoyed his cousin Ben so much he wanted him to sleep in his bed and not in the trundle. Luckily Ben was open to sharing with him. Could they look any cuter? No, I don’t think so.
Now for a piece of craft work. Finally had time to take a few pictures of more recent work. This was a Unity Stamp Co set that was released last month. I believe this was my umpteenth (yes it IS a word) try at using flocking. The oven mit felt like it needed to by fuzzy. It was calling out for flocking. Not to pleased with how it turned out. For reasons unkown the ability to use flocking evades me. I can paint a mural yet I cannot use flocking. Uhhhggg!
The paper collection is from Kaiser. I cannot seem to get enough of their stuff. The variety of collections they have is fantastic. Love, love, love the new materials that I saw at CHA. Their wood products are as varied as their paper. Melissa totally rocks and is a joy to watch. They are an Australian company. Thus, the employees Ozzies too. Well I could listen to them talk all day. What is it about accents? Not only was her demo at CHA educational it was fun too.
Dares and Challenges July 26, 2008
Do you participate in Scrapbooking/Card/Altered Art challenges, sketches or Dares on blogs or websites? I have never done so. I think I will eventually. But finding the time to play does not happen often. I am mostly creating for assignments and publication. There is a websight called Split Coast Stampers that I lurked on for a few years. I finally signed on to be a member earlier this year. They have a set of stamping dares called Dirty Dares 08. ( http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40 for a bunch of challenges) It is about simply getting those fingers inky and playing. I think when Maxx starts school this fall (Insert big Momma tears) I will pick a day and let myself play. Because if I do not set time aside it will never happen. Thursdays are laundry day. What should play day be? Maybe friday? Or should I start the week off with some me time and go for Monday? This layout has nothing to do with my posted questions. I made this about a year ago for Maxx’s sitter Donna. She was great to him and I personally miss her. She did more than just watch him so I jenjoyed doing extra things for her.
Monkey July 25, 2008
I love my monkies. For those of you who do not know me I have an affinity for the slightly odd. Especially when it comes to decorating. I have a monkey chandalier. We had it in out house in Cincinnati and I insisted on bringing it with us on our move. I loved this paper collection the minute I saw it. I taught this class at Mega Meet in Michigan a few years ago and I also had it picked up for publication in an Australian magazine. I mailed it out about 8 months ago and it has yet to be published. Guess it is just one of those things that will happen when it happens.
I would love a nice monkey stamp. Know of one? If so send me a link.
I have found a few new blogs that I absolutely love. I need to find them again and add some links to the side. Do you have any favorites? Share if you do.
