Not sure what direction I wanted to go in with this post.  Feeling fall and feeling the start of Halloween. Still grovin on the inchies.  Trying to come up with a change of address card to make and mail out.  I am truly loving my Scor-Pal.  But I am running out of time so here they are.  Enjoy!

I migh post another picture later.

old tool new project?

old tool new project?

Since the move I have reorganized my work space and discovered tools that I have used to have fun with and put away for one reason or another.  Not any more.  I am trying hard to use them again.  I might not be a PRO at using them and I might churn out a few duds(not that I think this is one).  So what?  Who cares?  I know I don’t.  I like to share my projects.  The good the bad and the … you made that and not a 6 year old?

This project in particular is one that was done with a tool that is not all that old but the technique sure is.  I remember doing it in girl scouts and summer camp.  My house smelled interesting when I finished.  I was also craving marshmellows.   The smokey aroma filled the kitchen.  I wondered if the smoke alarm would go off.  It  did not.  Thank goodness.

I free handed the pattern on the box in pencil.  I wanted a rustic middle eastern look.  I then went back with the wood burning tool.  Colored it in with wood markers and then went back to touch it up.  Once it was finished it I sealed it with Krylon Crystal Clear.  Not quite sure what I am going to do with the box.  It matches my little sisters new place.  I might save it for her Christmas present.  She is doing her place Hooka – esque.  Not hooker but hooka as in hooka pipe.  LOL

Am I the only one who puts up their good and not so good stuff?  Just curious?

And more good inchies.  I have a new addiction.  I must confess.  They are called inchies.  If you look below at the images you will notice they are all kept inside one inch squares.  Mini pieces of work.  So quick and so fun.

Now that you have made it to the bottom and checked out all of the inchies tell me what you think?  Are you going to gie it a try?  Really they are fun and really quick.  I hope you have enjoyed looking at them as much as I did making them.  Now for some more viewing pleasure please stop by Cyndi’s blog.  It is her last Hip Hop with us this month as Guest DT member.  It was a joy seeing her work.  www.scrappychick.typepad.com

Now for a Christmas card.  This is one I am considering for the Christmas cards swap I am hosting over on SCS on the Unity Stamp Co.  section.

I like to dabble in clay.  Molds make it really easy.  I made this one a while back.  I have the same shape in a bunch of different colors.  THe mold is available from the Krafty Lady – She is in Australia.  I know she has a US distributor.  But for the life of me I cannot think of who it is.  Nothing sticks to her molds.  I use clay and resin in them.  I have not been much more adventerous that that, yet.  I cannot wait to upload my camera.  I have been on a card making frenzy.  I have been making inchies.  They are addictive. Very addictive and so much fun.  TTFN, Niki

It has been a super busy weekend.  Not much to post.  I will have more photos coming all week.  Pending Maxx does not have any problems.  Crossing my fingers.  This card was made using the Scor-Pal and my Pazzles.  Yes I could have done the scoring on the Pazzles but I needed to figure out what I wanted to do.  Sometimes I like to do things manually.  I have been doing a lot of sketching.  I used to only do it digitally now I hae gone back to doing it with a french curve and a ruler.  Maybe one day I will share?  Who knows?   I almost forgot about announcing the RAK.  KIM is the lucky one.  I have your addy I will send it soon.

I never know what I am going to post when I sit down with my laptop.  Occassionally I have a specific photo or project I want to share or some random tid bit.  Like, September is National Grilled Cheese Month.  I read that somewhere yesterday.  I am full of absolutely useless random facts.  So, I thought I would post some random cards to go with my ramdom-ness.  I think we have a little Christmas and maybe a little Valentine’s

Let me know your thoughts.  I Will send out RAK, yes, RAK, RAK,RAK RAK.  I said it.  RAK.  I have the RAK from last week ready to go to the post office so why not add one more to the bunch?  I will make a big trip trip to the PO on Sat.

I am very impressed if you made it all the bottom of my ramblings.  PLEASE go visit Amber all the  way in Japan on her blog for some beautiful work http://www.stampingscrapbooker.typepad.com/

I could not think of what to give my girlfriend who is expecting.  She likes to be original.  So original is what I gave her.  A hand drawn monkey onsie & bib.  I am not an artist in any way shape or form.  I would love to take art classes and really learn how to draw.  Well this little set was my first attempt with fabric crayons & an outliner pen from Pentel.  They worked great.  Very smooth and easy.  All you do is heat set.  I heat set the bib a little to much. It stuck to itself in the back.  I will get her another one to go with it.  But I cannot break up the set. :-)

I had a confernece call with the Principal, teacher and school nurse about Maxx.  We are all on the same page now.  SO, hopefully we can get things under control.

Maxx would call it a PIDER and run and he did.  My boy is not a real outdoorsy kind of boy.  I however could always be found at the creek. No telling what creature I would try to bring home next.   This most interesting spider was hanging outside yesterday.  I am not sure what variety she is.  Not that she is even a she for that matter.  I thought the colors on her back were quite lovely.   If you look just below her on the bottom you can see where she has repaired her web.  It is a cool zig zag stitch.   Today was a beach day it has become our after church tradition lately.  It works.

I had to google the spider and this is what I found.          One of our largest, brightest, and most frequently noticed spiders, the Black-and-Yellow Argiope is very common throughout North Carolina. They are also known as the garden spider (since they’re very common in gardens) or writing spider (for the patterns in their webs). They catch large insects in their sturdy webs, including grasshoppers and butterflies. They are harmless to humans. How do you pronounce Argiope? According to the folks at bugguide, it’s ar-GUY-oh-pee.

Inspiration September 12, 2008

I am sure there is a Tiffany out there whose birthday it is.  This is not a post for her.  It is a pondering post.  Where do you find your inspiration?  Lately mine has been from my childhood.  There have been many changes in my life lately.  Mostly good as far as I can see but changes none the less.  I do not know if these changes make me yearn for a simpler time when the decisions were made for me and I spent hours with my nose stuck in storybooks or if we always look back on our youth in retrospect at certain points in our life.  I am now the mother of a kindergartener.  A happy go lucky kind of boy who decided this week that he did not want to go to school.  I have not figure out why yet.  I will but it might take a while.  He is not very talkative when it comes to personal feelings.  Kid thing?  Guy thing?  5yr old communication thing?  I am not sure.  But his unwillingness to go to school has made me look at the influences in my life at his age and one person sticks out.  Many of you are familiar with her work yet you most likely do not know her name.  She was a brilliant illustrator named Mary Blair.  She did many works for Walt Disney like Cinderalla, Sleeping Beauty and also lots of work for Little Golden Books.  Her work is simple, child-like and completely brilliant.  I have started sketching and I find my style looking more and more like hers.  I did not realize this until I stumbled across another blog displaying work that I said looks like Mary Blairs and my husband pointed out that it looked like mine too.  Hmmm?

So Who inspires YOU????
