Sweet treats September 11, 2009

These sweet treat boxes  are easy to make and could be made for any holiday.

I used Marvy Uchida heart punches, Ancient Page coal black ink, American crafts paper and ribbon, and Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue®.

Directions:

1. Place one side of box down on wrong side of paper,  Trace around box.  Cut out.  Trim of 1/4″ inch of of each side.  Run edges across black ink pad.  let dry and glue down.

2. Punch hearts out.  Ink edges and let dry.  Place glue on back and position as desired.

Fill with wonderful sweet treats.

Shhhhh, I have a secret February 20, 2009

I **** LOVE**** Christmas Kitsch.  I really do.  The tackier the better.  Maybe it takes me back to my childhood.  Not that it was considered tacky then.  But I have always had a little flair for the tackier side of things.  My mother tries to blame it on my grandmother  (my dad’s mom) but I am not so sure.  She has been known to have her share of tacky outfits.  Well, to be perfectly honest more than her share.  LOL 

It seems like I work on Christmas projects year round.  With magazine work it is generally 6 months out.  Many times more, especially for Christmas.  I have come to not mind it so much.  I had a lot of fun with this one.  I want to call him Fred.  Fred the snowman.  Naming pieces is not common practice – he just look like he needed a name.

The crystals are Prima.  His mouth is a remnant of a much larger one that did not fit on a card.  I save all the good scraps.  You never know when you will need a tiny random piece.  Again, the SMOOCH came out.  The dots on the felt party hat and his cheeks dried very quickly.  I did heat set the clay snowflakes.

I am so happy Monday is over.  Now productivity can begin.  I had a few humps and hurdles to over come yesterday and I am not going to let them keep me down or interfere with what needs to be complete.  I am a task/goal oriented person.  I need to stick to what I do best and simply do it.  (That was my little motivational speech to myself this morning)  Go ME!

A little gift box December 21, 2008

 A stamp wheel (rollagraph by clearsnap) some ink and a little Prism Paper make a quick and easy gift box.  Recycled some cardboard from all the amazon boxes that have piled up.  The heart is  a stamp I made myself.  I have not decided what to say.  I think it could be almost any occasion with this color combination and the correct choice of words.

Pretty Little things November 18, 2008

I Like pretty little things.  I like making our meals pretty too.  Dinner is a big ordeal at our house.  It is family time.  No TV.   We discuss our days, our plans and life in general.  I work from home so I am able to cook dinner almost every night.  I like cooking.  I find it relaxing – like another creative endeavor.  Last night we had escargot, crab cakes, salad, glazed baby carrots and cheese grits.  Maxx was not a fan of the escargot.  Then what normal 5 year old would be?

The flower pots are embellished with Clearsnaps new Design Adhesives.  They are double sided sticky images that can be embossed, glittered and I am sure many other things.  I wanted to decorate the pots with more than crystals so I embossed them with Asparagus embossing powder.  Notice one has a ribbon and none of the others do?  Maxx has a little crush on a girl at school and he wanted me to make one for her.

Gifts of Love October 28, 2008

I love to personalize gift I give.  I hope the recipients reuse the packaging.  It would make me really happy to know my effort were thought enough of to be given again.  This is a little tan/craft paper colored box that I embellished with white craft ink and Sakura red glitter glaze.

Johnny 5’s Alive – Blog Candy October 13, 2008

Johnny 5’s Alive was the first thing that popped into my head when Maxx drew out the blog candy winning number.  Movie quotes and characters pop into my head at the most random of times.  My friend Carla Schauer does the same thing.  Total randomness will bring out a line from a movie.  It is a good thing we both watched the same movies growing up.  I learned a bit by asking for honest comments.  Not as many people will leave them.  So I appreciate those of you who did.  I did learn to post a bit more about myself.  Not too much though.  A few pictures here and there might help too.  Materials list and tutorials are what I need to consider next.  Those are something I will have to work on.  Not my favorite things.  I really dislike writing directions.  They are hard enough to do it when I am getting paid let alone do it for the heck of it.  But I will try.  Maybe I will start off small.  Say, once a month?  Maybe twice?  I do know that I promised a few people directions on a multi-fold card I did a few weeks ago.  Give me another week and I will have it done.This card was inspired by my new friend Sheila Cantonwine.  She was making cards like this when I was at her house.  They were so whimsical I had to give it a try.

PS.  I almost always list the materials I use in tags at the top of the page.  95% of the ink I use is ClearSnap some of you might also know it as ColorBox, Ancient Page or Cat’s Eyes

I love Thursdays October 2, 2008

I really do.  I get blog visitor. My house is clean- Well I always do my laundry on Thurs.  THat makes me feel accomplished.  The band plays at the park by our house.  We do not even have to leave our yard. AND only one day until FRIDAY.  The official start of the weekend.  Oh and it is HIP HOP.  It has become a very fun part of my routine.  Once you check out my stuff go visit the next person Jennifer at http://www.thebuckstampshere.blogspot.com/  I love the play on her last name.  Her header is awesome.  I do not think my last name would be an inspiring header.  MEINERS? 

Most of the stamps I used are from the October Kit.  It has a nice variety of goodies in it. Tuesday I was the featured DT Member on the Unity Blog.  I have things posted there that are not on here.

 

I really wish I had more time to make things to show you.
