Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week 1 – Killer Coo Coo Clock

After spreading out the pieces of the house die I was not  sure of what it was going to become I did not want to glue it or decorate it without getting a good feel for it.  As I started folding it into shape I knew instantly what I wanted to make.  A coo coo clock of sorts.  I have a thing for clocks.  My family room has almost a dozen clocks in it.  None of which tell time.  I took all of the batteries out of them.  The tick tock would drive me nutso.  (Not that there is much driving to do. LOL)  I wanted to give it a kitschy look and decided to go with a faux wood grain.  I used Helmar Textured Effects to create this look.   I applied it on with a sponge brush in long strokes and left it streaky on purpose.  Then painted it with 3 different colors of brown paint using the brush on wipe off technique.    Then decorating the house fell into place.  I added Vintaj accents for the finishing touches.  If you have never used Vintaj before they have great stuff that can be found at Hobby Lobby, and other craft stores.  Now on to the fun stuff.  The blog hop.  The master list is http://sizzixblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/sizzix-triple-play-blog-hop.html

But for ease of use, since the hop is so large Jen Goode designed the blinkie to the left that is really neat.  If you start with me then you can go forward and backward by clicking on the link in the box.  If you want to start at the very beginning the press the link in the center.

Add the pattern paper to the front of the house and adhere to main house.  Then cut small strips of paper to fit across roof and scallop the edges by placing in die and cutting at varying lengths.  Spritz edges with water and curl with a bamboo skewer and let dry.  Adhere as shown.
